Coronavirus Statement

Church is changing – it’s not stopping … Cathedral life continues

Public worship is suspended

The cemetery is closed to visitors,

… but the life of the Cathedral continues.

The Island’s Cathedral like all churches of the Diocese of Sodor and Man are now closed to all forms of worship, including private prayer and reflection, weddings, and baptisms and Funerals. Funerals can continue at the graveside under strict guidelines set out by the Church of England.

Stay Home, Save Lives

The decision is part of a series of stringent measures announced by the Manx Government and the Church of England to stem the spread of Coronavirus and save lives.

The Cathedral has kept a rhythm of daily prayer which we still maintain through social media, praying for the needs of our Island nation and our world. We also aim to continue to serve our community. The following are some key contacts.

Please pray for all who are involved in the response to this crisis worldwide.

Loving God,

source of healing and comfort,

fill us with your grace,

that the sick may be made whole,

that those who care for us may be strengthened,

that the anxious may be calmed,

and those most vulnerable be protected

in the power of Spirit

in the faith of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
