Archbishop of York’s Visit to St German’s
We were delighted to be part of the visit of The Archbishop of York, Stephen Cottrell, to the Isle of Man in September.
The Archbishop visited the Island to walk pilgrimage routes with Bishop Tricia, sharing prayer and reflection along the way. He stopped to offer services and prayer at churches around the Island, from Cregneash to Maughold, before leading Sunday morning Eucharist at St German’s Cathedral.
The congregation was led in worship and reflection by the Archbishop, Bishop, and Dean Nigel as well as the full Cathedral choir.
In his sermon, the Archbishop reflected on the calling to live out the words we say and sing and concluded the whole service with a heartfelt speech voicing his appreciation of Dean Nigel’s service in light of his impending retirement.
It was a joy to have the Archbishop with us for this service and the pilgrimage.
